Arts & Theatre
A city swimming in culture
Overlooking the UNESCO world heritage site at Liverpool’s historic dockside, and just moments from the hustle and bustle of the Baltic Triangle, Ropewalks and the Cavern Quarter, The Copper House puts you right at the heart of the action.
Take the short stroll down to Albert Dock, where you’ll find Tate Liverpool – the beating heart of contemporary art in the north. Past exhibitions include retrospectives of pop artist Peter Blake, Austrian painter Gustav Klimt, and British photojournalist Don McCullin. Elsewhere at Albert Dock, you can take a deep dive into the city’s history at the Merseyside Maritime Museum, or familiarise yourself with the fab four at The Beatles Story, a permanent exhibition dedicated to all things The Beatles.
If you’re a keen theatre-goer, Liverpool won’t disappoint. The Liverpool Empire Theatre is the country’s second biggest theatre, often hosting shows direct from the West End. And for more intimate shows, the Everyman and the Playhouse put on a range of experimental drama and forward-thinking productions all year round.
The city’s musical legacy is evident everywhere you go. Furnished with 1960s memorabilia, the legendary Cavern Club at 10 Matthew Street is the place to go for live rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly and classic pop. Or if you fancy catching the latest up-and-coming bands, head to Leaf on Bold Street, where the intimate upstairs venue has hosted the likes of Blossoms, George Ezra and Cate Le Bon.
In the same spirit of independence, every spring, Liverpool Sound City brings together local and international artists and musicians for a three- day celebration of independent music and art in the city’s creative hub, the Baltic Triangle.
A real sense of community.
Great apartments in an excellent location.
